Chicken Kozhambu (Home stlye)

Chicken Kozhambu
Any day chicken stew or kozhambu can ease a tired day for me. Just this and hot steaming rice can make a dull day bright. Of course if you keep slurping the stew, you are sure doze heavily after food :-P

This is what you need:
1/2 kg chicken with bone
2 Onions sliced thinly
3 Medium size tomatoes chopped finely
3 slit Green chillies
3 Tbsp Red chilly powder
2 Tbsp Coriander powder
1 Tbsp Turmeric powder
2 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
2 Cups Thick Coconut milk
1/2 Tbsp Saunf powder
1 Tbsp Garam masala
Few Coriander leaves
Oil as required

To season:
1 inch Cinnamon
2 Cloves
2 Cardomon pods
Few Curry leaves

This is what you do:
  • Take water in a vessel as required to cook the chicken. Add chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and ginger garlic paste.
  • Mix well and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and season it with the seasoning ingredients
  • Add the onion and green chillies and saute till onion is translucent
  • Add tomatoes and saute till mushy
  • Now add the masala water and once it comes to a boil add the chicken to it
  • Once chicken is cooked add saunf powder and garam masala
  • Finally add the coconut milk and mix well and remove from stove in one boil
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice.
