Peanut Chutney

Chutney of any kind have always been my favourite. You can just whip it in no time and serve it with idli or dosa and be done with your breakfast routine. This chutney uses Peanuts - you can either use raw peanuts or roasted one. Roasted peanuts has one step lesser!

Similar to Coconut Chutney, all you gotta do is replace the coconut with peanuts.

Peanut Chutney:

What you need:

1 Cup Raw/Roasted Peanuts
2-3 Green Chillies depending on taste
Tiny Piece of Ginger (Optional)
Rock Salt as required
1 Tsp Oil
1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1 Tsp Urad Dal
1 Dry Red Chilly
1 Sprig Curry Leaves
A Pinch of Hing or Asafoetida

What you do:

  • If using raw peanuts, roast them in a pan till fragrant with a tsp of oil. Otherwise follow step 2 if using roasted peanuts.
  • Grind the peanuts, green chillies, ginger and salt to a smooth consistency.
  • Add water to dilute the chutney as per preference.
  • Heat oil in a pan and make a tadka of mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, dry red chilly and curry leaves.
  • Pour this tadka over the ground chutney.
  • Serve with Idli or Dosa!
